The Scrambler 400 XC is the most expensive made-in-India Triumph model and it rides on cross-spoke rims with tubeless tyres
Triumph India launched the all-new Scrambler 400 XC a few months ago featuring tubeless spoke wheels. At a price tag of Rs. 2.94 lakh (ex-showroom), the new XC variant became the most expensive model in the brand’s made-in-India line-up.
The Scrambler XC commanded a premium of Rs. 27,000 over the regular Scrambler X which came with the regular alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. In the latest development, Triumph has revealed the cost of the tubeless spoke wheels and the pricing is quite steep.
It is important to note that these spoke rims are imported to India and it is one of the reasons behind their expensive price tag. The front wheel costs Rs. 34,876 while the rear unit will set you back by Rs. 36,875. The total combined cost of both the wheels comes out to Rs. 71,751. Yes, that is the total amount customers will have to shell out if they are looking to retrofit the cross-spoke tubeless wheel in their regular Scrambler 400 X.

This also highlights how competitively Bajaj has priced the new Scrambler 400 XC variant as it only commands a premium of Rs. 27,000 over the regular Scrambler 400 X. The cross-spoke wheels with tubeless tyres are a straight swap for the alloy wheels in the regular model and do not require any modification. However, Triumph is not offering any warranty on the spokes, even if the wheels are fitted via the brand’s official service centre.
Reportedly, warranty is only available on the wheel rims which cover the manufacturing defects. The warranty issue is due to the fact that these tubeless cross-spoke wheels are not homologated in India. The cross-spoke wheels on the XC are 1.1 kg heavier as compared to the alloys on the X variant.

Recently, Royal Enfield also hiked the price of the cross-spoke tubeless wheels for the Himalayan 450 to Rs. 40,645, up from the earlier sticker cost of Rs. 12,424. In addition to the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the Goan Classic 350 and KTM 390 Adventure are the two India-made motorcycles that offer tubeless tyres with spoke wheels.
