New 7-seat Renault SUV to mainly compete with a corporate cousin from Nissan set to follow shortly after, as well as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV 7XO

While on one hand Renault is preparing for the sales start of the all-new Duster in India, on the other, it is already working on a second major launch. The next model will be a 7-seat version of the all-new Duster, possibly with a new name and subtle design changes.

The upcoming 7-seat Renault SUV derived from the all-new Duster was spied on test recently. The three-row model is likely to have a longer body measuring about 4.55 metres in length and a slightly longer wheelbase of around 2.70 metres.

The exterior of the new 7-seat Renault SUV would have a familiar, authentic SUV stance with an upright front fascia, prominent skid plates, a high ground clearance, pronounced wheel arches, and strong shoulder lines. The rear windscreen would be less raked compared to the Duster, freeing more room for luggage in the boot.

Inside, the 7-seat Renault SUV should feature a layout similar to the all-new Duster, but with a different design and colour scheme. Higher-quality plastics, more soft-touch materials, and additional comfort features, including sliding and reclining second-row seats, are also expected. The second-row seats will likely come with a one-touch fold and tumble mechanism to make ingress in the third row easier. The boot could include a dedicated button to conveniently fold the third row seats and free up more luggage space.

A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless smartphone charger, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, an electronic parking brake, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof will likely be among the features shared with the all-new Duster. The panoramic sunroof should be slightly bigger, though. On the safety front, expect Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, a 360º camera system, and six airbags.

Renault will likely launch the 7-seat SUV with a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 158 hp and 280 Nm of torque and a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions in Q4 2026. The company will likely introduce a hybrid system based on a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 158 hp and 172 Nm of torque by mid-2027.
