New Hero Xtreme 160R 4V has been spied reaching dealerships with notable cosmetic and feature additions ahead of its market launch
Hero MotoCorp is preparing to launch the new Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition with units already spotted reaching dealerships. The update will give rise to one of the most feature-loaded iterations of the Xtreme yet. The most immediate change is visible up front. The top-of-the-line Combat Edition wears a redesigned LED headlamp inspired by the bigger Xtreme 250R.
The revised frontal portion pairs with a new LCD dash featuring negative graphics – likely offering better visibility and a sportier appearance. Subtle tweaks in paintwork and graphics bring up a sleeker stance without altering the Xtreme’s familiarity. However, the real story lies in the electronics as Hero has equipped the Combat Edition with a ride-by-wire throttle setup.
It introduces three distinct riding modes along with cruise control – a first for the 160 cc category in India and we have been telling you since the Glamour X got this feature that it would be expanded to more models. The new switchgear on both handlebars allows riders to toggle between ride modes and activate cruise control on the go.

The cruise control system apparently allows the rider to set and maintain a constant speed without continuous throttle input. Underneath, the motorcycle continues to use the proven 163.2 cc air- and oil-cooled, four-valve engine that produces a maximum power output of 16.6 bhp and 14.6 Nm of peak torque – coupled with a five-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by KYB upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear while dual disc brakes with dual-channel ABS will be responsible for stopping power. While Hero hasn’t revealed the official price yet, we do expect it to carry a slight premium over the current top-spec variant which retails at around Rs. 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom).

Considering the added tech and design updates, that bump seems justified for what’s on offer. The new features effectively reposition the Xtreme 160R 4V as one of the most value-for-money offerings in this segment as cruise control and ride modes are amongst the trendy features in modern motorcycles.
