The updated versions of the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are expected to go on sale in early 2026 with cosmetic revisions and interior enhancements
Volkswagen and Skoda are preparing to bring in refreshed versions of the Taigun and Kushaq. Recent spy shots of both SUVs testing indicate a coordinated development programme with market introduction expected in early 2026. Under the skin, there are no surprises likely planned. Both midsize SUVs will continue to ride on the heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform which has already proven its strength in terms of safety and structural integrity.
Engine options will also remain unchanged with the 1.0-litre three-pot turbo petrol producing 115 PS and 178 Nm and the larger 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI delivering 150 PS and 250 Nm. Gearbox choices will include a six-speed manual, six-speed torque converter automatic and the seven-speed DSG while industry speculations hint at a possible eight-speed automatic being evaluated for the future.
The visual updates, however, are where the facelifts will make their presence felt. On the Volkswagen Taigun, revisions are expected to be subtle rather than dramatic. Spy images suggest tweaks to the front grille, bumper contours and headlamp detailing while the familiar LED tail lamps with C-shaped lighting elements remain unchanged.
Additionally, a set of new alloy wheels and new exterior colour options are likely to be introduced. Skoda will follow a similar playbook with the Kushaq facelift. Test mules reveal lightly reworked bumpers, a revised grille and mildly updated headlamp sections while the overall profile stays intact.
On the cabin front, both five-seaters are expected to take a noticeable step forward. Volkswagen will more likely introduce a reworked dashboard layout with improved material quality while also adding a full suite of Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert.
Skoda’s focus appears to be on elevating the premium appeal of the Kushaq’s interior. Other expected additions include new upholstery, a redesigned centre console, a larger touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging and six airbags as standard across variants.
Once launched, the updated Taigun and Kushaq will continue to take on established rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Honda Elevate while also preparing to face upcoming models like new Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton. The facelifted Virtus and Slavia are also coming in 2026.
