Yamaha EC-06 comes with a 4.5 kW electric motor delivering up to 8.98 hp and is paired with a 4 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery
Yamaha has unveiled the EC-06 along with the Aerox-E in India today. With its elevated stance and proportions, the EC-06 horizontal design philosophy gives it a distinctive high-centred look. It also boasts sharp body lines and the brand has developed the EC-06 specifically for India. It is loosely connected with the River Indie.
Powering the EC-06 is a 4.5 kW electric motor delivering up to 8.98 hp of maximum output and it works in tandem with a 4 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery back. The combination is said to offer smooth, consistent performance and sustainable range for daily use. The EC-06 is claimed to have a riding range of 160 km between charges.
Its three selectable riding modes allow the rider to optimise performance and energy usage. A reverse mode has been added for added convenience during parking manoeuvres. The EC-06’s battery supports home charging through a standard plug-in system – requiring around nine hours for a full charge.

In terms of features, the EC-06 is well-equipped with front and rear disc brakes. The scooter comes with LED headlight, taillamp and indicators, along with a coloured LCD instrument cluster that displays essential information. Its under-seat storage stands at 24.5 litres which should accommodate a helmet or small luggage for daily use.
Digital connectivity is another key highlight with the EC-06 incorporating an in-built telematics unit and SIM-based connectivity. It enables real-time data access and location tracking. The system may also integrate future features such as ride analytics and service reminders.

The Japanese manufacturer will commence deliveries of the EC-06 in the first quarter of next calendar year and its prices will also be announced around the same time. The company’s lack of presence in the electric scooter space is certainly noticeable and the arrival of this duo should tighten up the competition further.
