Here we have listed the soon-arriving four new compact electric SUVs from brands like Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra and Kia in India
The compact electric SUV segment is heading for a crowded grid as multiple manufacturers prepare to introduce new models over the next year and a half. Activity is expected to intensify particularly at the lower end of the EV market where the focus remains on affordability, practicality and usable range.
Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra and Kia each look set to bring new contenders to the segment as a handful of launches are in the pipeline:
1. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV:

Mahindra’s electric derivative of the XUV 3XO has been spotted undergoing multiple test cycles – suggesting that its launch may not be far off. Expected to sit below the XUV400 in the brand’s EV hierarchy, the new model could use its sibling’s battery and drivetrain setup. Though the overall profile is likely to stay close to the ICE version, minor visual changes inside and out may be introduced to mark its electric identity. Once launched, it will line up against the Tata Punch EV, Nexon EV, etc.

2. Hyundai Inster Based EV:

Hyundai is lining up several electric offerings for the Indian market with the global Inster-based compact SUV slated to be one of the first models to arrive. Expected to reach showrooms in late 2026, the Inster EV has already made its presence felt overseas but it will likely boast India-specific changes and could be sold with two battery packs.
3. Kia Syros Electric:

The battery-powered version of the Syros which has drawn decent attention in its petrol form will more likely arrive on Indian roads in 2026. Built on foundations likely shared with the forthcoming Carens Clavis EV, the Syros EV is expected to be positioned squarely against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 in the compact electric SUV bracket. Range figures could exceed 480 km per charge at least on paper.
4. Tata Punch EV Facelift:

A mid-cycle refresh for the Tata Punch EV which currently sits among the top-selling electric vehicles in the country is expected to land sometime in early 2026. The updated model is set to inherit Tata’s latest design cues seen on newer products. Beyond the styling revisions, an extended equipment list and enhancements to overall driving range could be on the cards.
