The year 2026 is expected to see the launch of as many as 20 new SUVs in the Indian market, including mid-life facelifts, generation updates, and fresh products
The SUV segment is currently the talk of the town, and the trend is expected to continue in the coming years. Banking on the popularity of SUVs, car manufacturers in India will introduce a slew of new models, which will include mid-life facelifts, as well as fresh products. In this article, we will look at the 20 upcoming SUVs from top brands in 2026.
1. Mahindra & Mahindra
The Indian SUV maker will kick start the year with the launch of the XUV7XO, which is essentially the facelift version of the XUV700. It will feature an updated exterior design, along with refreshed interiors, while the powertrain options will be carried forward as it is. Around mid-2025, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to debut with minor changes inside and out.

Meanwhile, the Thar facelift is also in the pipeline, featuring exterior design elements from the Thar Roxx. Towards the end of 2026, the much-awaited Vision S compact SUV is also expected to go on sale, which will be based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform. It will most likely bear the Scorpio nameplate and will be positioned in the compact SUV segment. In addition to this, the XUV3XO will also be launched sometime next year.
2. Tata Motors
Tata Motors will launch the petrol-powered versions of the Harrier and Safari in early 2026. The SUVs have already been revealed, featuring the new 1.5-litre tGDi Hyperion petrol motor, putting out 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. The Sierra EV is also scheduled for a launch in January, and it is expected to come with a claimed range of around 500 kilometres on a single charge, along with the option of AWD.

The facelifted version of the Punch and Punch EV is also on the cards for next year, and we can expect a market launch in the second half of 2026. The updated version of the conventionally powered Punch has already been spotted testing, and it will get a major design overhaul, along with refreshed interiors as well as new features.

3. Kia
The Korean carmaker has already revealed the new-gen Seltos in the Indian market. The second generation of the mid-size SUV is scheduled for a launch on January 2, 2026, accompanied by the price announcement.

The bookings of the Seltos are already underway. It is based on a new K3 platform, with a considerable increase in the overall length and wheelbase. The exterior and interior design receive a major overhaul, while the petrol and diesel engines have been retained.
4. Maruti Suzuki
Maruti’s first electric car in the Indian market, the eVitara, will likely go on sale in January 2026. The much-awaited electric SUV is available in two battery pack options, i.e. 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a maximum claimed range of up to 543 kilometres on a single charge. The company is also working on the updated version of the Brezza, which was recently spotted testing.

It will likely feature some minor changes to the exterior design, and we expect some new feature additions. The compact SUV could also feature an underbody CNG tank in the CNG-powered variants, thereby increasing the boot space.
5. Toyota

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) will launch the Urban Cruiser EV in 2026. The electric SUV was first showcased in concept form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. It is based on the eVitara, underpinned by the 27PL skateboard electric architecture, which has been co-developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. The Urban Cruiser EV will get the 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options, shared with the e Vitara. We expect Toyota’s first electric car in India to debut around mid-2026.

6. MG

JSW MG Motor India will launch the much-awaited Majestor SUV in 2026. It was showcased for the first time at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The full-size SUV will be positioned above the existing Gloster, featuring a new exterior design, updated interiors and more features. Under the hood, the familiar 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, will power the MG Majestor.
7. Renault & Nissan

Renault is all set to debut the highly anticipated Duster in the Indian market on January 26, 2026. It will be followed by the launch of its Nissan counterpart, the Tekton. Both the SUVs will share the CMF-B platform. Under the hood, the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, putting out 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque, is expected to be a part of the package. The major differentiator between the Duster and Tekton will be the exterior design, along with some changes to the interiors, as well as the variant line-up.
8. Skoda & Volkswagen
The Skoda Kushaq is ready to receive its first mid-life facelift update in January 2026. It will likely be followed by the Volkswagen Taigun facelift. Both the mid-size SUVs will sport a revised front fascia, a new set of alloy wheels and a refreshed rear profile.

Inside the cabin, we can expect minor changes to the layout, along with the addition of new features like a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree parking camera and Level 2 ADAS. Under the hood, the Kushaq facelift and Taigun facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines, available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
