BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe gets a slew of changes inside and out and it derives power from a 1.5L turbo petrol engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm
The second generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has officially launched in India and is now available with a petrol powertrain only. Locally manufactured at BMW Group Plant Chennai, deliveries begin immediately across BMW dealerships and bookings have opened already. Offered in two variants – the BMW 218 M Sport is priced at Rs. 46.90 lakh.
The BMW 218 M Sport Pro, on the other hand, costs Rs. 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It boasts a shark-nose front and the redesigned glowing kidney grille. The adaptive LED headlights complete with matrix high beam and cornering lights extend into the fenders and feature blue detailing. The car’s aggressive stance is underscored by the large black air dam, vertical vents and sculpted bumper.
The silhouette, defined by a long bonnet, short overhangs, frameless doors and a tapering roofline, ensures coupe-like elegance. At the rear, the new LED taillights feature vertically stacked light elements while exhaust tips are hidden neatly within the bumper. On the inside, the cabin has been reworked with minimalist centre console that goes well with the redesigned dashboard.

The illuminated Aluminium Hexacube trim and ambient lighting elevate the visual appeal while the frameless panoramic sunroof and upgraded acoustics are other highlights. The M Sport package, offered as standard, brings distinctive design tweaks like Y-spoke 18-inch alloys, black diffuser insert, high-gloss shadow line elements and aggressive front and rear bumpers.
BMW’s latest iDrive running Operating System 9 has been featured. The 11.2-inch curved touchscreen sits beside a digital instrument cluster, integrating Google-based navigation, voice assistant and app support. Augmented View on the head-up display brings real-time overlays into the driver’s field of vision. Buyers will also get wireless charging, keyless entry via Digital Key Plus and 205W Harman Kardon sound system with 12 speakers.

Upholstery is offered in Veganza Perforated ‘Mocha’ or ‘Oyster’ finishes – both leather-free. Newly designed sport seats with electric adjustment, memory function and thigh support come standard, accompanied by an updated M steering wheel with backlit controls and paddle shifters. Under the hood, the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 156 hp and 230 Nm.
Coupled with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch automatic, the coupe sprints from 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 230 kmph. A dedicated Sport Boost function allows a temporary performance surge by activating all drive systems simultaneously. Dynamically, the 2 Series Gran Coupé gets an overhauled suspension setup for sharper handling and improved comfort.
Increased chassis rigidity, recalibrated dampers and a new lateral dynamics management system work together to enhance ride quality according to the brand. The chassis has also been retuned for India with increased ground clearance. BMW offers an extensive warranty and service package lineup. Service Inclusive and Inclusive Plus plans begin at 3 years or 40,000 km and can be extended up to 10 years or 2,00,000 km.
The warranty extension options are also available up to 10 years. Four exterior colour choices include Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire Metallic and Alpine White. On the safety front, the car is equipped with features such as BMW Driving Assistant (lane change warning, rear collision alert), Parking Assistant Plus with surround view and Reversing Assistant, DSC with CBC, electric parking brake with auto hold, ISOFIX, crash sensors and a compact emergency spare wheel.
