JSW MG Motor is preparing to introduce the M9 in the Indian market with plans to retail it alongside the upcoming Cyberster electric sportscar through the brand’s upscale MG Select outlets. Pre-bookings for the M9 have already opened via the official website and at dealerships requiring a reservation amount of Rs. 51,000.

We got to drive the luxury electric MPV recently and you can find our first drive impressions along with the range test in the video linked below. The M9 which first appeared at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year boasts a spacious interior and its second row has been extended for improved passenger comfort. MG will offer the model in three exterior colours: Cardiff Black, Luminous White and Mystic Grey.

Once launched, the M9 will go up against the fourth-gen Kia Carnival which entered the Indian market a while ago and Toyota Vellfire but strictly speaking, being an electrified offering, the M9 does not have any direct competition. The equipment list comprises 16-way adjustable seating with support for eight massage modes along with both heating and ventilation functions.

A panoramic sunroof is part of the equipment list too alongside a 64-colour ambient lighting setup and a 12-speaker audio system. Buyers will have the choice between pure black and cognac brown interior upholstery. It is the longest MPVs upon arrival measuring 5,270 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm while the width and height stand at 2,000 mm and 1,840 mm respectively.

The model will be offered in a six-seat layout. Key functional features include power-operated rear sliding doors, a 360-degree camera setup and an ADAS package. Safety and convenience tech extends to Electronic Stability Control, Auto Hold, disc brakes on all four wheels, seven airbags and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

MG M9 Electric MPV

Expected to be priced above Rs. 90 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG M9 uses a 90 kWh battery pack positioned underneath the floor. It makes 245 bhp and 350 Nm. The luxury offering also comes with features such as a large touchscreen interface with wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, 19-inch alloy wheels with self-healing Continental ContiSeal tyres, LED headlamps and DRLs.
