In the list of top 10 sedans in June 2025, Maruti Suzuki Dzire continued to sit on top ahead of Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and VW Virtus
The compact sedans retained dominance in the June 2025 rankings but as you might already know the segment as a whole remained muted in terms of growth despite some decent recovery from established nameplates. At the top, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire continued to widen the gap, clocking 15,484 units – a 15 per cent jump over June last year.
The Dzire alone accounted for a significant chunk of total sedan volumes – reinforcing its hold on the sub-four-metre category. Hyundai’s Aura followed in second place again, registering 5,413 units in June. The figure marked a 26 per cent increase year-on-year and it might garner more volumes in the coming months, courtesy of the newly launched affordable S AMT trim.
Behind it, the Honda Amaze saw a similar upward movement. At 2,274 units, the compact sedan grew 27 per cent compared to its June 2024 tally. Volkswagen’s Virtus, now in its third full year, settled at fourth with 1,778 units – up 7 per cent year-on-year as it continued to be the best-selling midsize sedan in India. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz surprisingly came next.

Though relatively low in absolute numbers at 1,028 units, the five-seater posted an 80 per cent growth over the 572 units sold a year earlier amidst rumours surrounding its impending discontinuation. Skoda’s Slavia, despite its shared underpinnings with the Virtus, slipped to sixth place. With 896 units in June, it fell 27 per cent from its previous year’s mark.
The Hyundai Verna, meanwhile, posted one of the steepest drops in the top ten – 813 units represented a 43 per cent year-on-year decline. Matching that rate of decline was the Tata Tigor, which dropped to 788 units compared to 1,371 in June last year. The Honda City, once a huge draw in the midsize segment, found itself at ninth with 709 units – down 17 per cent.

The Toyota Camry, the lone D-segment sedan on the list, rounded off the chart with 180 units. While modest in volume, it did show a 26 per cent improvement over June 2024. June’s numbers reaffirmed the compact sedan segment’s continued decent reception led chiefly by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
