Maruti Suzuki will likely debut a new Creta rival SUV on September 3; New-Gen Venue to go on sale around the festive season this year
The market share of SUVs is on a steady rise in the Indian market. Banking on this trend, car manufacturers are working on new models, some of which are scheduled to be launched this year. The list includes new SUVs, facelifts and EVs, from some of the most popular brands. Let’s look at the upcoming SUVs launching this year in India.
1. Maruti Suzuki New Creta Rival SUV

The home-grown carmaker is ready to launch a brand new car on September 3, and it is most likely a mid-size SUV that will be positioned below the Grand Vitara. Expected to be dubbed Escudo, it will be sold via the company’s Arena dealership chain. The Creta rival SUV has already been spied testing in the country, and it could be slightly longer than the existing Grand Vitara. Under the hood, we expect the familiar 1.5-litre mild-hybrid K15C petrol and 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engines to power the new Maruti SUV.

2. New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The launch of the next-gen Venue has been confirmed in the Indian market, and it is expected to go on sale ahead of the festive season, most probably around September 2025. The previous spy shots highlight a completely new exterior design, sharing some familiarity with the Creta. Inside the cabin, a new layout along with new features like Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof and more are expected to be a part of the package. Under the hood, the second generation of the compact SUV will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines.
3. Tata Sierra ICE

Scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2025, the iconic Sierra nameplate will make a comeback in a modern avatar. Tata Motors has already taken the wraps off the Sierra in its near-production guise at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The test prototype of the SUV has been spotted on multiple occasions, and the overall silhouette was quite familiar to the version showcased at the Auto Expo. While the technical details are under wraps, the Sierra will likely be powered by the new 1.5-litre tGDi petrol and 2.0-litre turbo diesel engines.

4. Tata Punch Facelift

The Tata Punch recently crossed the 6 lakh sales milestone in the Indian market, achieving the feat in less than 4 years of its launch. The micro SUV is now due for a mid-life facelift update, and it is expected to launch by the end of 2025. The updated model will share the exterior design with Punch EV, albeit with some changes. The revised interiors will feature a new steering wheel, tweaks to the dashboard, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Mechanically, the Punch Facelift will remain the same with a familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine under the hood, along with the CNG fuel option.
5. Mahindra XUV3XO EV

The XUV3XO EV will likely debut in the coming months, and it will go up against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Kia Syros EV in the Indian market. Internally codenamed S240, Mahindra has been testing the electric SUV for a long time. It will share its design with the ICE XUV3XO, with some electric-specific touches. The battery packs could be borrowed from the XUV400 EV, comprising 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh units. We expect the XUV3XO EV to be priced at around Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
